Challenges faced
As per the proposal the project is going in a positive attitude to promote organic farming among the individuals of its operational area as well as to promote SRI method of cultivation. There were many field level problems faced by all the staffs for the implementation of the project.

  1. Participation of women farmers in some villages is very poor
  2. we always told about the organic manures but question raised by the farmers regarding the availability of the same
  3. Erratic monsoon is a major challenge for all the farmers
  4. 1 acre patch in some areas is a difficult task to select for demonstration
  5. Lack of livestock in villages
  6. Farmers influenced by private companies to introduce HVV seeds in many of our operational villages

Learning

  • Farmers are the masters in the field not we. So practically we have some Learning from them.
  • Special programme should organize for women at co-partner level
  • Selection of low land is less effective
  • Farmers less interested for govt. supplied seeds
  • Special attention to SRI field must enhance crop production
  • More than 25cm space have given by farmers in HVV seeds in comparison to local and HYV seeds
  • Farmers need readymade organic manures for easier practice
  • It is easier to farmers to plough the lands in post harvesting period
  • Women from non-SRI families compel their husbands to adopt SRI method by seeing the demonstration fields
  • More pest incidence in late transplanted fields

Recommendations/Suggestions
Though the programmes of the project are preceding in manner still some needs to fulfill by the donor and monitoring agencies.

  1. Preparation of organic manure manual for wider prescription to farmers
  2. Instant Crop insurance should implement for the farmers to avoid loss occurred in flood and drought like situation
