  • Video shows on SRI and village meeting are found effective to create awareness among new farmers.
  • Sub-circle meeting on SRI and sustainable agriculture is found effective for promotion of organic farming.
  • 776 farmers have been adopted SRI where as 723 farmers had given consent.
  • 434 acres of land came under SRI during the Khariff 09 out of the target of 526 acres for this session
  • The highest yield in SRI method in this Khariff is 34 quintal/acre and lowest 18 quintal/acre
  • Soil samples from different plots have been examined and also issued health card to know the soil health
  • Community trainers are acting as leaders in all villages to promote sustainable agriculture as well as SRI among the new farmers
  • Rope marker is found appreciable among farmers.
  • In some areas farmers are getting 9 -10 qntls per acre by organic practice
  • 50 plots of 1 acre each have been selected for demonstration in 41 villages.
  • 2 villages have been selected as SRI village named “Badhiasahi” and “Nadiali” where we find more than 80 acres of land under SRI.
  • Details of 776 farmers have been filled in English, the format is developed by CWS, BBSR and MIS format developed by SDTT also filled up for various stages
  • Farmers have been impressed with this method of cultivation and practicing it in other crops.
  • Less germination in Pratiksha variety is found in many places. For that farmers are not interested to accept govt. supply seeds.
  • More pest effect in high breed variety than high yielding variety during this year.
  • Buckets have been supplied to farmers for preparing and using Jibamruta
  • 8.5 kg/acre Dhanichha seeds have been supplied to all farmers in our operational area
  • The average no of grains/panicle is about 296-325 found in one square meter area where as the average length of panicle in one square meter area is about 26-29 cm
  • SRI inorganic method give more yield to the second year practitioners in comparison to last year yield performance
  • Farmers have interest to adopt direct seeded SRI in some areas and also to adopt the method in sugarcane.
  • 4 Block level federation of SRI farmers have been formed
  • District level federation has been formed of SRI farmers and a committee including 23 members

Here the graph below depicts the comparison of grains per panicle in SRI and conventional method of paddy cultivation. We have taken 4 panicles of different varieties from SRI and traditional method. We noticed there are maximum grains in the SRI method than the traditional. There is no chaffy grains in the panicles from SRI method.

Programme output and outreach

  • 65 farmers are acting as leaders for promotion of sustainable agriculture and SRI in all villages.
  • 3 villages have been selected under state plan for SRI village demonstration
  • 3 farmers have been selected for demonstration under NFSM scheme
  • 2 acres of land has been planted Dhanichha for more availability of green manure
  • Detail format of 776 farmers have been developed in English and converted into Odia which is understand by everyone
  • Farm labors trained on SRI techniques demands more money for transplantation
  • The farmers of Badhiasahi build a “Farmers club” of SRI members
  • After watching the great success of Badhiasahi farmers, many of other villages interested to adopt SRI in contiguous patches.
  • Total farmers family of village Badhiasahi have been given consent to cover all their lands under SRI method of cultivation
  • We have organized exposure for staffs to CRRI, Cuttack and also the field of CAAR
  • 12 farmers have been applied for vermicompost unit to govt. dept. and among them 6 farmers have already constructed their pits
  • 20 farmers have been adopted SRI method in paddy in 10 acres of land in this season
  • 21 vermin-compost unit have supplied to 21 farmers in different villages
  • 109 farmers involved in the district level meet and 356 farmers were participated in 4 programmes organized in four blocks. Farmers from another block were involved in the programme organized at other places
